Anyone else getting ads for turbine engine exchange and overhaul services on Facebook? Just me? That is some damn specific targeted  advertisement. What is scary is there are maybe 30 people at our company who really talk about that kind of thing and I’m one of them. Wrong kind of engine though.

Give fb too much personal information and this is the result

That’s why I use a false name on fb

I disabled my FB account in December, haven’t decided yet whether I’m going to open it back up to filter through my saved items before closing it again, or let sleeping dogs lie.

Unfortunately it’s the primary way my Jeep club keeps in contact (which is why I finally broke down and signed up for it in the first place) but I think I’d rather let my club slip away than continue to deal with FB. I’m an organizer, the oldest remaining active member (the club’s only a few years old) , but I think it’s time to accept that FB is too poisonous.

I will say that by not using FB in a web browser (except in incognito mode) but rather via mobile apps, it never seemed to pick up on any interests except for those I was actively engaged in on the site. I didn’t have to worry about Amazon searches, or web searches, or email, or anything else slipping into FB’s realm.

I get ads for a local tombstone maker? Probably also for more relevant things, but generally I block ads, so I don’t see them.

I received an ad on Kin ja recently to buy a NetJe ts fractional ownership.

Either AdSense greatly misunderstands my relationship with aviation, or Hamilton Nolan is compiling a list of class traitors to guillotine.

Facebook is beyond criminal, but I’m stuck with it, because PCA doesn’t really understand this whole ‘Internet’ thing. Significant portion of the membership has trouble with this thing called ‘texting.’

End result?

... goddamnit. That’s ‘fuck it’ money too.

Doesn’t matter. They know your real name. If you haven’t gotten ‘dinged’ for the real name policy, they know your name.

Supposedly there is a way we can do that now.

The one I keep seeing is from some shop in the UK, even if I owned one, that probably wouldn’t be relevant.

Huh... I’ve never gotten one of these. I must not use specific enough wording while I’m at work on these types of things for 9 h ours a day.
